Details: Writing has always had an important role in relationship to my photography. Not only have I “used my words” to introduce and explain images and techniques, but writing has also helped me to tease out the meaning in my own work, and to understand and explore what I need to do next with my art.
There’s a long tradition of photographers using their writing as an adjunct and support to their visual work, and often reading what a photographer has written can be an important way of understanding their work. In this regard, Edward Weston’s Daybooks come to mind.
In this webinar, I will examine the relationship between my text and my work, and also take a look at this relationship in the context of other photographers. Moving on, I’ll suggest some concrete paradigms that you can use to insure regular inclusion of words, text, and writing in a coherent way as part of your workflow to increase the aesthetic richness of your own work.
There will be ample time for Q&A.
